Why fueon removed three features (and what it’s replacing them with)
We removed auto-save to cloud, grammar checker, and collaborative editing from Fueon. Here's why these features didn't work and what we built instead.
We removed three features from Fueon last month.
This wasn't easy. We spent months building them. But they weren't working the way we wanted. And keeping broken features doesn't help anyone.
We believe in building tools that actually work. Not tools that look good on a feature list but frustrate users daily.
Here's what we removed, why we removed it, and what we're doing instead.
Feature 1: Auto-save to cloud
We built an auto-save system that saved your work to the cloud every few seconds. It sounded helpful. In practice, it caused problems.
Users lost work when auto-save conflicts happened. You'd edit a document, and the system would save an older version over your new changes. We received dozens of support tickets about this.
The version control got messy. Users couldn't tell which draft was current. Some people had five versions of the same document and no clear way to pick the right one.
We tried fixing it. We added version timestamps and improved the conflict resolution. Nothing worked well enough.
What we're doing instead of auto-save
We added a simple save button. You click it when you're ready and see a clear confirmation message. No conflicts. No confusion.
We also added a recovery option. If your browser crashes, we keep your last session. You don't lose your work.
This approach is simpler. It gives you control. And it actually works.
Feature 2: Built-in grammar checker
We added a grammar checker a few months ago. It underlined errors and suggested fixes. Users asked for it, so we built it.
It did not match the accuracy of dedicated tools such as Grammarly or ProWritingAid. The AI is designed for content generation, not detailed grammar analysis, and combining both affected performance.
The grammar checker also reduced editor speed because it analyzed each sentence in real time while typing.
This added lag, especially in long documents. We already explained why we didn't want to add a grammar checker initially, but we tried anyway.
The suggestions were often wrong. It flagged correct sentences. It missed actual errors. Users told us they turned it off and used other tools instead.
What we're doing instead of grammar checking
We removed the grammar tool and focused on what we do well; generating quality content with AI writing tools.
Our AI writer now produces cleaner output from the start. We improved the language models. Fewer grammar errors appear in generated content.
We also made it easier to export your work. You can now export to PDF, DOCX, and other formats. Edit in Word or Google Docs with their grammar tools if you need them.
This matches our philosophy. We stopped at five core tools because doing a few things well beats doing many things poorly.
Feature 3: Real-time collaborative editing
We launched collaborative editing eight months ago. Multiple users could edit the same document simultaneously. Like Google Docs, but for Fueon.
It was buggy from day one. Changes didn't sync properly. One person's edits would overwrite another's. Cursors jumped around. The experience was frustrating.
We also discovered most users don't need it. Over 90% of our users work alone. They write content, humanize AI text, or rewrite drafts by themselves.
The feature added complexity to our codebase. It slowed down our development of other features. And it barely got used.
What we're doing instead of collaborative editing
We removed collaborative editing. We built better sharing options instead.
You can now share documents as view-only links. Others can read your work without editing it. If someone needs to edit, you export the file and send it to them.
We made Fueon mobile-friendly instead. You can work from your phone or tablet. This helps more users than collaborative editing ever did.
We also improved our dashboard with features users actually requested. Better organization. Faster access to your documents. Things that matter daily.
Why we make these difficult decisions
We test every tool multiple times before launch. But sometimes features still don't work in the real world.
When that happens, we remove them. We don't keep broken features just because we built them.
Some companies add features endlessly. We do the opposite. We keep Fueon focused and reliable.
Our new year roadmap includes new features. But only features we can build properly. Only features most users will actually use.
What this means for you today
If you used any of these features, they're gone now. We understand this might frustrate you.
But we believe you'll have a better experience without them. Fueon runs faster. It's more reliable. The tools that remain work better.
We also reduced our pricing recently. You pay less and get a cleaner, more focused product.
If you have questions about these changes, contact our support team. We read every message.
Thanks for using Fueon. And thanks for understanding why we make these tough decisions.
